The first day in Havana, she took me to Old Havana by bicycle cart. On our way we passed the Marecon road which faces the Atlantic Ocean directly so sometimes we got to see mountainous seas lapping against the wharf (see photo.) We got wet! If a Cuban cares to take advantage of US legislation, they can attempt an adventurous sea crossing by small boat to get to Florida, where they can get US citizenship. But not so many people succeed I heard. It's the biggest bet of their life. I felt bad. I realized how lucky I was being Japanese.

Old Havana has history.
The tremendous cathedral was built in the 18th Century. For a moment I felt like I was in Spain.

Surprisingly, mostly cafes, restaurants, and hotels have fantastic musicians playing there all day -- much more than in NY! (see photos.)
There are all kinds of musicians who work for the government, because this is a Communist country. Only high level professional musicians who can
pass the government exam can work in this country.
